VA disability rates for 2024 were confirmed on October 12, 2023 (will be finalized on December 1, 2023), with the implementation of the Social Security Administration’s announcement of a 3.2% Cost of Living Adjustment (COLA) for 2024. Veterans will get a 3.2% VA disability pay increase starting January 2024.
The new 2024 VA disability rates will be effective December 1, 2023, and disabled veterans will see the new 3.2% COLA increase on their January 1, 2024, VA payment. Disabled veterans with a current VA disability rating of 10% or higher will receive a 3.2% increase in their VA disability pay rate for calendar year 2024.
For example, a veteran rated 100% with no dependents receiving $3,621.95 in 2023 will begin receiving $3,737.85 in 2024 due to the 3.2% COLA increase. That’s an increase of $115.90 monthly.
NOTE: Disability compensation, pension, and DIC benefits are excluded from federal taxable income.
